Using State Transition Diagram Editor

What is the State Transition Diagram editor?

State Transition is a process of updating the State field of a record from one State to another.

Only those transitions that you choose to allow will appear in the State drop-down menu of various editors.

The State Transition Diagram editor helps you in defining State Transition Workflow Rules for a Record Type. It graphically displays the allowed States and the possible Transitions between them for the selected Record Type.

You can access this editor from Administration > Configure Record Type States & Workflow > Configure State Transition Rules Using a Diagram. Refer to the image below.

When to use it?

Use the State Transition Diagram editor when you want to:

  • Specify State Transition Workflow Rules for a Record Type.
  • Add or remove States for a selected Record Type.
