Upgrading TopTeam Offline to Version 11

Overview

This document describes the details for upgrading your existing TopTeam Offline installation from version 10 or lower to version 11.

Offline Data Storage Technique

TopTeam Offline version 11 uses Microsoft SQL Server LocalDB to store data offline (on a local computer). However, older versions of TopTeam Offline were using Embedded Firebird DB to store data locally.

Migrating Your Existing Offline Data

Due to the above mentioned change in data storage technique, it is not possible to upgrade your existing offline data.

If you have any changes in your offline data which are not yet synchronized, it is recommended that prior to upgrading your TopTeam DB on server side, you must synchronize your offline data with the server. This will ensure that the changes made in offline data are not lost.

Upgrading TopTeam Offline to Version 11

The Offline upgrade installer also installs SQL Server LocalDB 2012, SQL Server Native Client 2012 and MDAC 2.8, along with TopTeam Offline. These components are needed to connect TopTeam Offline with local offline DB.

Windows Administrator permissions are required to install these components.

NOTE: When you upgrade TopTeam Offline, the older version’s Embedded Firebird DB is not deleted. However, it will not be used any further. Instead, a new SQL Server LocalDB offline database is created when you run the Offline Synchronizer after installation.
